This huge male bath is in fact a mixed one, as women are allowed to join freely.

Global rating :
Kanaya Ryokan, located in the nice town of Rendaiji, was founded in 1866

Size :
The mixed bath (basically the men's one, where women are welcome to come) was built in 1915, but looks much more recent since it has been renovated in 2002. With a length of 15 meters and a width of 5 meters, this bath is rather huge; furthermore, it is quite deep - more than 1 meter at some places: it is even possible to enjoy swimming there! The women bath, which was built more recently (1991), it also of impressive size (11 x 5 meters). Both baths are located in entirely wooden buildings with high ceilings. The outside baths are much smaller and partially made of concrete.

View :
There is no view from the outside bath. Anyway, bathers come here for the marvelous inside baths.

Modesty :
Women can easily join the "men's bath" through a double door (taking the key with them, probably to ensure that men do not try to join the other side during that time). However, women's bath is at least as nice as the men's one...

The bath is not only long, it is also quite deep; it is even possible to swim in it!

The female inside bath is as nice as the men's

The outside baths are small, but still pleasant... after a swim
