Ratings   (explanation of our rating system)

Global rating :
Manza is situated closed to Kusatsu onsen and is easily accessible by bus. The specificity of Manza onsen is its milky white water. The Manzatei hotel is composed by the main building and another building (10 min walk) with cheaper accommodation prices, but of course you can still enjoy the onsen for free is you are staying there.

Size :
You can easily bath in the outside bath with 20 people without any discomfort. And if you want a little privacy, you can reserve the private bath big enough for a family.

View :
Nice view over Shirane mountain (R), during winter you have a direct view over the ski resort and can watch at people skiing. I went there during autumn and I can appreciate the color of the tree.

Area :
Manza is an extremely famous ski resort, located at 1800 meters in the Gunma prefecture, very close to the Nagano prefecture. In winter, hotels are packed with Japanese coming to enjoy the attractive combination of onsen and ski. The rest of the year, it offers interesting possibilities for mountain - and volcano - lovers.

Comment

For people who need some fresh air away from the town, this place is for them. Just remember that during winter, Manza is a ski resort and is packed with people. It is also a good destination for a two days trip, one day there and the second day it will takes you 40 min by bus to Kusatsu onsen and enjoy the different baths.
